I am definitely enjoying my companions... though they seem to
bounce off each other and get slightly distracted.... thinking about
their 'before' life... and boys and such. and they have the same taste
in music and movies so they are always singing and quoting 'gentile'
music/movies as I call it.
after we finished emailing last week... my throat did
not start feeling better. while I typed up emails I went through at
least four Halls. then we hit up some shops. I was not doing well at
all. so much pressure in my head. I started to feel hot too. about an
hour or so later my skin started to tingle all over and my head was
really spinning with pressure, so we headed home. on the bus ride home
it seemed to get worse. and... embarrassing story... I started
crying! on the bus! my face was just so hot and tight, the pressure
was just squeezing the tears out. sister H asked if I was ok and
it was waterworks. I think they worried that there was something else,
but there wasn't. it was the weirdest thing. I couldn't stop it. I
wanted to go home and slip straight into bed, but we had some bad
news... the phone was gone.
that is kinda a big deal. our only form of
communication and we have to call in every night. we used a neighbors
phone but none of the elders in our district would answer. lame.
luckily some members were coming around that evening to drop off a sofa
for us... and the zone leaders came a long to help. I had a blessing
and we let them know about our phone...
not having it caused so much stress the next couple of
days (though the APs shipped one out to us almost immediately.) couldn't
call members to set up appointments, or investigators.... and we had
just fasted that two people would contact us from the Mormon.org cards
we had handed out with our number on them.... lol. then we found out
that the phone was most definitely stolen, cuz the ZLs called it and got
a text back asking 'who is this?' ... not a very smart burglar. lol.
that phone will have been switched off by now... it's just awkward in
case potentials called that phone... we know that E called and was
quite confused (got the same text)
and of course whatever I had on Monday didn't go away
quickly. Came home early again on Tuesday. been slightly sluggish all
week.
lol. I just keep remembering all the
horrible bits of the week (I thoroughly enjoyed it!) the heat was
insane! so I know that I have nothing to compare with Colorado, Utah or
Nevada even... but I am just not accustomed to this. plus it is muggy
heat I don't have cool clothes and we've been out walking a lot. I
think it only reached 30... not sure what that even is in Farenheit...
maybe 90 ish?
On Saturday we walked to Sneinton (like an hour walk...
to save bus fare and find on the way... of course no one was out)
there was a festival in sneinton. a parade and stalls in the park. very
tiny though. I have never seen such a small parade. lol. and hardly
anyone came out. i'm sure they were all avoiding the heat. Sister
H really struggled though and on our walk home she was very
overheated. so a short break at home ended up being an hour and a half
cuz we sat on the sofa to cool down and we all fell asleep. bother.
so. E is still set on her date, but we had a bit of
drama this week. due to the phone we didn't get an apt schedualed till
Friday. then she canceled due to a bad headache. reschedualed to
Saturday. then she called and cancelled cuz she had company coming
over. so (after a lesson with a new investigator in our
complex... i'll tell you about Jn in a minute) we sat outside the
flats trying to organize a lift for E to church tomorrow... and who
comes out the door with her bleached blonde friend and a bottle of
whiskey!.... noooooooo!!!!!!! we were even going to teach the word of
wisdom that night!!!!!!!
we found her a lift and got her the details and prayed
that we'd be able to work all this out.... the next morning..... :S no
answer at her door. I feel guilty that a member went all the way out
there to fetch her... and she slept in due to a hangover :S we did see
her after church and she commited without hesitation to live the word of
wisdom. i'm sure that Satan had his hand in the events this week, but I
know that the Spirit is more powerful and E has such a strong desire
to do what God wants of her. she has a huge desire to be baptised and
see her family be saved as well. her husband is gonna take more time
though. he is caught up in work things and said E can do the church
stuff for now. We'll get him eventually. I wish he could come to the
baptism :S out of town. bother.
anyways. I feel like i'm really rambling. forgive me.
it was a good week. we're off to see the castle this afternoon and we
already have 9 lessons planned this week... 6 so far with a member
present! our goal last week was to get five... and the adversary
attempted to conquer us. this week we will win it!!! lol.
oh yes. last thing. Jn. another Nigerian...
our third investigator from there. and the third investigator to accept
baptism on the first lesson. unfortunately she is going on a 6 week
holiday to Nigeria so we won't see her, but she promised to read from
and pray about the book of Mormon. :) miracles are happening!!!
anywho... about out of time! I love you so so so so much! you are my favourite mummy!!!!!!!!!!!
i'll talk to you next week :)
Love, Ashley
