GUESS
WHAT!!!!!? Mother's day is in 2 weeks!!!! I already have somewhere to
go. Bishop Jones :) Sister Gr. asked if she could use his
computer in the morning and then he asked if i would call home too.... i
told him yes but in the evening. so he said we could come then too.
Sister Gil. will just call on the phone. so. now we just need to
decide on the time. i'm not entirely sure if our time difference is
still 7 hours. i heard yesterday that it changes. (a return missionary
here.... just came back from Oregon) have you had the spring time
change yet? we had one in the middle of march. let me know when is best
for you. anytime after 5 pm here would be great.... well and before
8pm.... so that doesn't really give us a wide range. so. an easy
choice, eh?
Was a good week. we did a lot of driving on
Tuesday.... and it was the most beautiful day i've seen so far. so warm
and sunny. while driving towards Gloucester (where we were fetching
Sis. gil.) Sis Gr. kept rolling the windows down - saying it
was sooooo hot. i luaghed and kept telling her to take her scarf off
(MY scarf actually..... i might never see it again. well i will. on her.
lol) She was super stoked to see Gloucester again (you know how to
pronounce that one? ... Glahh-ster... :P lol. i know) because that was
her first area. she really miss it. she is always talking about the
people and the whole place. cutie.
so we spent 40 minutes in gloucester town.... visiting
with one of her favorite members. then we fetched Sis. Gil.... and
also sis T.... and her new companion..... and gave them a lift to
Rhiwbina. I think that sister T's new missionary is one of the
sisters that went home. Sister Gil's companion went to Wilde green
(really close to the mission office) and the new missionary in Wilde
Green went with sis. T.... sorry. boring details. made a bit of
chaos. losing sisters.... sad :( we learned that sister W. is in
Chelmsey Wood with sister D.
so we are officially three again. my 6th
companion. though sister gil is on her 3rd transfer, 4th
companion.... only trained for 2 weeks, now sister Gr and i are
her follow up trainers... not that she needs it. but technicalities.
she is from northern ireland. she's 35 actually. super fun though. she
can be quite quiet, but once she gets laughing. oh my. this morning we
were singing a hymn and the last verse said something about gathering
lambs.... she just busted up! i don't know what happened. she couldn't
even tell us. she just said she had a strange mental image come to her
mind. she went to the floor laughing! and that just got sister Gr
going. IDK! my crazy companions! .... :) i laughed too. how can you
not?
R. is still progressing! super excited. his
baptismal date still holds. he is excited. he came to church yesterday
and the ward is great. supportive. and had great questions in gospel
principles (the lesson was on temples and family history work) R.
even wants to help his brother (his last family member) to know about
the gospel.... his brother is in prison and Richard wants him to know
that he can be forgiven through the atonement and that the priesthood is
restored. he's GREAT!
oh man. yesterday i wished that i was in a biking area.
i ate SOOOO much. our ward mission leader's wife - sister Clare -
made us a feast! chicken and roast, two types of bread, carrots, corn,
brussel sprouts, roast potatoes, new potatoes (little, boiled) parsnips
(have you heard of those.... a british thing i think. strange
vegetable.) two types of gravy, stuffing balls and yorkshire puddings. i
had FAR too many yorkshire puddings! they are FABULOUS!!!! i will make
you some when we are back home, k? apparently they're super easy....
but i'd probabily not do it justice..... and then! THREE different
puddings!!!!!! apple crumbles, forest fruits crumble and homeade
strawberry cheescake! i only had room for one slice. and i was dead
for the rest of the night. complete zombie!!!!! i thnk i gained three
kilos just from last night!!!!! (plus we had a lunch appointment as
well.... another roast dinner!)
we're still working on finding new investigators. last
week we had 15 potentials... but so far none of them have become new
investigators. a lot of people say they're interested and ask us to
come back, but when we do that tell us they're not.... just a way to be
nice and get us to leave the first time i think. i have come to a point
where i reiterate who we are, and what we're about and ask 'will you
be interested?' then sometimes they still say yes. though often they
will go. 'oh. not really. sorry.' i thought at first that we should
never try to get them to say no thank you.... but if that is the way they
feel... don't waste time going back. show them that this message is
important and we don't want to waste time. maybe it will plant a good
seed for someone else to harvest later. :) maybe. now we're just
looking for the harvest that someone else planted..... but i think maybe
there was a drought or famine or something.... so we'll just keep
planting and searching. i'm sure a seed has made it somewhere. lol. :)
love you!
~Ashley
