This week was fast. Long though. and busy. we went to Birmingham
twice. once for zone meeting and another for a training meeting.... Sister G. will be a trainer next transfer. pretty much all the
sisters in the mission will be. not me though. there are 5 sisters not
training. so i pretty much can guess who i'll be with and where i'll be
going. my guess (so you'll know that i was right when i tell you next
week :P...) i'll be in Gloucester with Sister J. again, and with
Sister G. (who i came out with.... she is from Armenia. tiny and
adorable and still working on English... though she is much better than
when i first met her.... the ability for missionaries to learn a second
language astounds me!)
Zone meeting was really good. i enjoyed it a lot. but... i forgot
to bring my notebook.... so. no notes for you. :P Sister J. was
kinda sick that evening so it ended up being a really lazy day
afterwards.
But Tuesday...! that was the day of the week (i can't believe that
that was only this past week... it seems like it was ages ago. I was
super excited for Tuesday last p-day cuz we had 3 solid investigator
lessons and a couple of other lesson scheduled. D. we were super
excited for and M. and G. And all of them we had members to
come out teaching with us. It started with D. texting and saying that
he was on call so no longer available. Then we called G. to
verify and she cancelled cuz of a job interview. Then we called the
member that would go with us to see M... but she realized it was half
term so all her kids would be home... she wouldn't be able to go
teaching with us unless she brought her kids :S so we were a bit bummed.
it felt like all our plans had completely flopped and there was
absolutely nothing we could do about it.
But we still had a lesson with M. I wasn't too sure about where
we were gonna go with her.... or how interested she really was.... but
after that lesson.... we've never felt the spirit so strong. and i've
never seen someone light up with understanding like she did. she
started the morning out by asking a million questions. all things like:
why are there so many churches? how do i chose one? what makes one
different from the other? how do i make religion part of my life....
Her questions were perfect, cuz we had planned to share the
restoration with her (using cups... like building a foundation.
prophets, scriptures revelation and such on bottom and then building
up...) with each cup we set down she asked a question or two and it led
us right into our next point. Then when we talked about the apostasy
and pulled out the bottome cups (cuz the world lost prophets, and
priesthood and revelation etc.) her eyes went so wide. It all just
seemed to click. she told us how it made so much sense and she was
going to come to church and bring her son too (he is 8. and super
curious. He believes in God and that he answers prayers and he reads
his picture book scriptures on a regular basis.) I'm exctied for
them.
We were quite bummed on Sunday though. Her son, Josh, decided he
wasn't ready for church meetings so he didn't want to come and she
didn't want to force him and couldn't leave him at home. I know that
when she comes to church she will feel the spirit even more
powerfully... plus the member that we were originally going to bring
with her... we found out that they actually know each other. and the
kids go to the same school even. Plus they live right down the street
from each other. GOLDEN!
I hope that she can progress to baptism, and her son.
So, today. a fun experience. we went to town (originally gonna write emails at the big library cuz my companions wanted to get it done earlier... but it was closed.... which is fine for me... i like the smaller library. and getting on later in the day.) while waiting for the bus a lady walked right up to us and asked if we were sisters from the church. she told us she used to be a member and was thinking about coming back. we told her about institute and which bus to take to get to that chapel. i hope she comes. i'm glad we were in the right place at the right time. Little miracles right? :)
Well. anyways. that was the gist of the week. though it's usually
all the little things that happen throughout the day that makes it truly
enjoyable.... unfortunately I'm really bad at remembering all the
little things. i'm trying to get into the habit of writing them down as
they happen. but alas.
I LOVE YOU ALL!
HAVE A GREAT WEEK!
Love, Sister Ashley
